Interchange

These three would go in quick succession, as stills, in the little bit of music between the first verse and the chorus

First verse storyboard

In your room,

alone

 it’s waking up with you

The memory’s cold as stone and your heart is, too

You’re slipping through the cracks trying just to get away

Stuck reliving your past and you’re running from grace
Is this all you’ll ever know?

My Questionnaire

I will give out this questionnaire for people to fill in, in order to better understand the audience I will be creating this video for.

I gave my questionnaire to 25 people. This is the feedback I got from it that helped me to get a better understanding of the audience. This also helped me to get ideas for what I wanted to do with my video for the song that I had chosen.

Initial Sequence idea

Performance
Narrative

Girl would have messy hair and smudged makeup. Looks like she can’t care anymore
In your room, alone, it’s waking up with you
The memory’s cold as stone and your heart is, too
You’re slipping through the cracks trying just to get awayshowing the tears (close up)
Stuck reliving your past and you’re running from grace
Is this all you’ll ever know?

This paragraph focus on the girl in the bedroom, showing different shots of her as the lyrics demand. (shaky shot)  Perhaps have a line in which the guy sings to introduce him and show the fact that he’s singing it. A shot of the girl in the bit of music in between. (Stable shot) pictures of her eyes opening a little at a time, so its staccato. Perhaps drawing of those eyes?

Try not to cry yourself to sleep anymore
Honey, you’ve got so much that you’re living for
Oh, there’s still time
Take off your shoes, it’s safe now
You’re running from everything that you’ve always been saved from
There’s still time

You hang your head so low, and you do your best to hide – the bench? She could be curled up on it
These feelings won’t let go,
but neither will I
So lift your head up high, look to daylightshe puts her head up
There’s a time to cry, but it’s not tonight

Try not to cry yourself to sleep anymore
Honey, you’ve got so much that you’re living for
Oh, there’s still time
Take off your shoes, it’s safe now of her feet as she takes her shoes off
You’re running from everything that you’ve always been saved from
There’s still time

Oh, someday I hope you find it
Oh, someday I hope you find it
Take off all of these weights, they’re binding
Oh, someday I hope you’ll find it

Oh, someday I hope you find it
Oh, someday I hope you find it

Take off all of these weights, they’re binding
Oh, someday I know you’ll find it

Instrumental – images of the girl perhaps images of the guy dancing? Not huge dancing, just sort of swishing his hair around.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh…
There’s still time

Oh, someday I hope you find it
There’s still time
Take off all of these weights; they’re binding Oh, (binding oh)
Someday I know you’ll find it

Looking at Location

These are a few pictures I took of possible location ideas for the narrative part of my video. These are only initial ideas and may not be what I will be using for the final thing.

My bed headboard. Likely to be used at the beginning of the story for the first few shots. I will use it because of the heart shape it has, using it to signify the brokenheartedness that she feels.

Another picture of the headboard a bit further out. This is more likely to be the type of shot used.

I would like to be able to use a shot like this as the sun is in a brilliant position to create a beautiful silhouette.

I might use this though it’s not likely as it looks a bit industrial. I want to create a sense of isolation that this shot doesn't really portray.

Having the girl curled up on this bench would be a nice shot. She could perhaps be lying on it, trying to drive away her pain by ignoring it.

I liked the idea that she could perhaps be sat on this bit of tree at some point, or wistfully running her hands along the branches and such. This would either look effective or stupid, but I hope it would be the former.

I like the idea of a path through a forest as it portrays the loneliness and isolation of the tree's and combines it with the idea of a journey.

More ideas of loneliness. I haven't decided whether I prefer the idea of the isolation on a public footpath or in the more wooded areas, though I'm leaning towards the footpath as it could show that though she is on a road many people take, she is still all alone.

The Ready Set - Love Like Woe

Looking at clothing

Performance – it will be done by a guy. He will be wearing bright clothing that will stand out against the white background. I want whatever he is wearing to be individual and fun, symbolising the fact that he is trying to help the girl whom is lost. He is the voice of the song, and so is the one who is trying to tell the girl al the things that are said in the lyrics. His part needs to be bright to contrast with the narrative that will be darker.

Narrative – as she is to be shown as ‘heartbroken’ she will be wearing drab/dreary cloths to show her depression. Her part will be in black and white to start with before gradually getting more colour as the words of the lyrics start to get through to her. Her cloths will likely be quite unflattering, perhaps having the odd tear in to show that she doesn’t really care anymore. Colours will likely to be in black or brown, lacking in colour and imagination.
